How did the First Balkan War Reshape the Political Landscape of the Region?

The First Balkan War, from October 8, 1912, to May 30, 1913, was fought to drive the Ottomans out of their remaining European territories. As a result of the Balkan League's victory, Bulgaria, Serbia, Greece, and Montenegro's borders were redrawn as the Ottomans lost 83% of their territory. The victory resulted in the emergence of Albania and the expansion of the Kingdoms of Serbia, Greece, Bulgaria, and Montenegro.

The First Balkan War played a significant role in the fall of the Ottoman Empire, which had existed from 1299 to 1922.

For centuries, they ruled much of the Balkan region while fighting off the enemy that was the Balkan League, formed in 1912 with Greece, Bulgaria, Serbia, and Montenegro.

That being said, the league achieved great success: winning the First Balkan War, liberating Ottoman-captured Greek, Serbian, and Bulgarian lands, creating an independent Albania on July 29, 1913, and capturing the majority of European-Ottoman territories on the continent.

The Balkan League victory meant that the region was now independent from all Ottoman influence, and future Balkan countries would be free from Ottoman rule.

Despite their success, the victory led to future land disputes between Bulgaria and its allies, leading to a second Balkan War beginning on June 29, 1913.

Overall, the First Balkan War laid the foundation for instability within the Balkan region.

As tensions grew, conflict rose, leading to the outbreak of World War I.
